Moving to Central Ohio from somewhere else.
Most of the towns around Columbus look similar on a map and feel completely different in person. Here is how I help people choose without flying in six times.
The Columbus metro is a ring of distinct towns rather than one continuous suburb. Dublin, Powell and Lewis Center run north and west with newer, larger houses and highly regarded schools. Worthington and Westerville have older cores with real character and lower turnover. Plain City and Marysville trade proximity for space. Hilliard sits steadily in the middle. Columbus itself is a dozen markets in a trench coat.
When you are relocating, the useful sequence is: decide on commute tolerance, then school district if it matters, then housing style, then budget. Doing it in the other order is how people end up buying in a place that never quite fits.
I will do video walk-throughs, drive neighbourhoods with the camera on, and tell you honestly when a listing photo is flattering something. If you can only visit once, I will plan the trip so the visit is spent deciding rather than orienting.
